The iPhone 14 series was finally launched on Wednesday at Apple's 'Far Out' event. Apple's newest smartphone series includes four models, as suggested by numerous leaks and rumors in recent months: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are the smaller models, while the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max are for those who prefer bigger screens. The series also includes the first iPhone Pro handset with a front-facing redesign since the iPhone X. The iconic notch has been replaced by a pill-shaped hole-punch cutout that houses the front camera and advanced Face Unlock technology.
Besides that, whereas the non-pro models are powered by last year's Apple A15 Bionic SoCs, the Pro models are powered by the latest Apple Bionic A16 SoC. In the United States, the most recent smartphones include E-sim activation without Wi-Fi. For the first time, iPhone models in the United States will not include a SIM card slot.
The cellphone also includes satellite emergency communication technology for sending SOS messages via satellite. The feature will be available in the United States and Canada, and it will be free with the iPhone 14 for 2 years. Each of these phones also includes a crash-detection feature that will automatically dial 911 if a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone.
The price of the iPhone 14 has been fixed at $799. (₹63,700). Similarly, the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $899. (₹71,600). Both phones will be accessible in Blue, Midnight, Purple, Starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED color schemes.
The iPhone 14 Pro costs ₹1,29,900 in India, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs ₹1,39,900. The smartphone is available for purchase via Apple's online store and Apple Authorized Resellers.
Specifications of I-phone 14
The iPhone 14 maintains the previous generation's flat-edge aerospace-grade aluminum frame, Ceramic Shield material on the front, and IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The device has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display that is claimed to be brighter and have better color reproduction than the previous model. It is said to have a peak brightness of 1200nits and support Dolby Vision.
The iPhone 14 is powered by Apple's proprietary A15 Bionic SoC from last year, which also powers the iPhone 13 series. Apple's Face ID technology remains the only biometric security option for unlocking the phone.
Apple will not officially reveal the RAM and battery capacities of each model, but third-party teardowns in the upcoming days should shed more light on this information. Apple claims that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will have more battery life than last year's iPhone models.
In terms of camera, the iPhone 14 includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 1.9um sensor and an f/1.7 aperture lens. A 12-megapixel sensor is connected with an ultra-wide angle lens with an f/2.4 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. According to Apple, there is a new 12-megapixel front TrueDepth camera with an f/1.9 aperture lens.
The company also revealed a few camera tricks up its sleeve for the handsets, including improved video recording with a new stabilization feature called Action Mode. This mode improves video correction by utilizing the phone's motion sensors. The Cinematic mode is now available in 4K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 24 frames per second. Apple also emphasized the improved low-light performance provided by the new Photonic Engine.
It is stated that the ultra-wide camera's low-light performance has been increased by up to 2x, the TrueDepth front camera's by 2x, as well as the main camera's by 2.5x. It employs Deep Fusion's computational advantages in the imaging process. Apple also claims that the True Tone flash has been enhanced and is now 10% brighter.
